Rubin Kazan one win away from Russian championship

Jonathan Roorda - 8 novembre 2009 19:10

Rubin Kazan need just one more win to decide the Russian Premier League

Rubin Kazan are close to their second consecutive Russian championship following a 0-2 victory at CSKA Moscow.

As Spartak Moscow lost their match to Krylya Sovetov on Saturday, Rubin knew that a win at CSKA would allow them to extend their lead to four points with just two matches to go.

It wasn't a walk in the park at CSKA, but Cesar Navas eventually put Rubin ahead in the 66th minute. A late goal from Alexander Bukharov took away any remaining doubts, 0-2.

In the remaining games, Rubin host Zenit St Petersburg and visit Kuban Krasnodar, while Spartak receive local rivals CSKA followed by an away match to Zenit.
