BANGKOK (AFP) - Manchester City manager Sven-Goran Eriksson arrived in Thailand on Wednesday as his future with the team looked increasingly black after a rocky finish to his first season.

The Swede, who arrived the same day as Man City's players, is expected to meet this week with City owner Thaksin Shinawatra, the deposed Thai prime minister who bought the club after his ouster from power in September 2006.

Eriksson's side suffered a humiliating 8-1 defeat at Middlesbrough on Sunday, a poor end to his first season with the Premier League club.

The former England coach guided City to ninth -- their best final position since 2005 -- but is widely expected to be forced out after Thaksin expressed displeasure at City's disappointing form in the second half of the season.

Eriksson, who arrived in Bangkok at about 6:00 pm (1100 GMT), refused to comment when asked by reporters about his future with the club.

Manchester City are in Thailand to play a post-season match with a local show team, before heading to Hong Kong next week.
