ROME (AFP) - Francesco's Guidolin's fourth spell in charge of Palermo came to an end on Monday when once again he got the sack from club president Maurizio Zamparini.

Guidolin has been replaced by Stefano Colantuono, who Guidolin had replaced earlier in the season.

The move was widely expected folling a fiery exchange between coach and president last week.

Zamparini blamed Guidolin for poor results and launched a scathing attack on his coach in the media following last Wednesday's 2-1 defeat at Parma, suggesting that the coach had no confidence in his players.

Guidolin responded by claiming that the club was undermining his team by turning the crowd against them.

"Unfortunately we did not win, but we were playing in a hellish atmosphere and it was impossible to play football," said Guidolin after Saturday's 3-2 home defeat to Genoa.

Following those comments Palermo released a statement distancing themselves from Guidolin's words and claiming they were considering legal action against him.

But hours later they released another statement announcing the parting of company.

Guidolin has achieved great success with the Sicilians in the past, leading them into the UEFA Cup and also briefly guiding them to the top of the table a couple of seasons ago.

But his latest spell in charge saw them pick up only 18 points from 13 matches and saw them fall out of contention for UEFA Cup qualification.

Colantuono, who performed wonders with Atalanta last season, was appointed Palermo boss at the beginning of this season but was fired following a 5-0 drubbing at Juventus.

"I am a tracksuit man and it's always a pleasure to take over a team because for someone who does this job it's difficult to remain on the outside watching others," said Colantuono.
