PARIS (AFP) - France football coach Raymond Domenech will stage his own personal protest over the Beijing Olympics by not watching any of the action on television.

Domenech tells Saturday's Le Monde newspaper that he opted for this "courageous act" instead of a call to boycott.

"I say to people: 'If you are against the Games in China, then don't watch them and switch off your television'," said Domenech.

"It's a courageous act. Instead of criticising others, you can do something yourself. Me, I will not watch them.

"The French say that they do not want the Games because it's scandalous in terms of human rights in China. If you don't want the Games, then during August switch off the TV!"
