MADRID (AFP) - Real Madrid midfielder Guti has urged coach Fabio Capello to think about recalling David Beckham, frozen out since the former England star announced he would join LA Galaxy in the summer.

Capello´s men are under pressure following a home loss Sunday to little Levante, which all but dealt a huge blow to fading league title dreams and Guti said that, although the team backed the man at the helm, it was time to give Beckham a chance.

"The dressing room is 100 percent behind Capello. We have confidence in him. I think he is confident in us," Guti told a press conference.

But he added that giving Beckham some playing minutes as the club tries to blood young players possibly ahead of time would make sense.

"David, more than a player, is my friend. He is a great footballer who has decided to start another chapter in his professional career and he deserves everybody´s utmost respect. We´d all love it if he could play, as well as train," Guti said.

Capello had said Beckham would not pull on the white shirt after rejecting the chance of a new contract to head to Los Angeles to wind down his career in Major League Soccer.

The Italian thereafter briefly appeared prepared to open the door to a possible recall, but after Sunday´s loss reflected that "in the three years he has been here the results haven´t been that good".

Capello on Sunday preferred to have 20-year-old Miguel Nieto on the bench than call up Beckham, who watched from the VIP stand.
