ARNHEM, Dec 24 (SW) - Vitesse fans will be heading for a good Christmas following a hard-fought shock win over Ajax Amsterdam.

Initially, Ajax were on their way to what would have been an expected result at the Gelredome. Czech Zdenek Grygera opened the score after four minutes and Tom De Mul doubled the lead in the 35th.

But in the second half, the homeside found new inspiration. Danko Lazovic scored Vitesse's first goal in the 49th minute and after another two minutes, it was Mads Junker to equalise.

A draw now seemed to be the most likely result, but Vitesse felt differently. Fred Benson netted for 3-2 in the 89th minute and not much later, the 4-2 was added by Youssouf Hersi.

Ajax spent the last twenty minutes with only ten players on the pitch, as result of a red card for Spaniard Gabri.

Due to this result, Ajax risk losing touch with AZ, who might extend their advantage to five points after the match with NEC later on Sunday.
