MUNICH, Apr 10 (SW) - Two days after losing 3-0 against Werder Bremen, Bayern Munich have switched focus to Wednesday’s German Cup semifinal against third division FC St. Pauli.

Saturday’s stumble and Hamburger SV’s 2-0 victory on Sunday allowed the northern club to close the gap with Bayern to just four points, but Bayern coach Felix Magath is focusing on Pauli, who have already defeated two Bundesliga clubs – Hertha Berlin and Werder Bremen - on their way to Wednesday’s semifinal.

Bixente Lizarazu, who has missed the last two matches, returned to training on Sunday, and though Michael Ballack sought treatment for a minor groin injury after the Bremen match, he is expected to return to training on Monday and be available for selection on Wednesday.

Brazil defender Lucio, however, remains a question mark following keyhole surgery to treat a minor back problem. The central defender is expected to engage in light exercises on Monday and could be fit enough for a full training session on Tuesday.

Bayern has been training on a heavy pitch in preparation for the rough field conditions expected in Hamburg.

"St Pauli will not do a great deal to improve the pitch," Magath, the 52-year-old former Germany international declared, predicting "no easy task" against the lower division club.

"Most third division clubs are totally professional these days. In physical terms, they're certainly on a par with any Bundesliga club."

Magath warned his men not to underestimate their Cup opponents. "If we go to their place believing pretty football will see as through, we're in for a nasty surprise."

Eintracht Frankfurt host Arminia Bielefeld on Tuesday in the other German Cup semifinal.
