FRANKFURT, 20 Nov (SW) – German champions FFC Frankfurt have lost their first leg of the UEFA Women’s cup against Montpellier surprisingly by 0-1. Ludivine Diguelman made the winning goal.

Around 4,300 spectators saw the match in the Stadium am Brentanobad in Frankfurt. Montpellier amazed with good position play. The team of Hans-Jürgen Tritschok had to rely on goalkeeper Marleen Wissink in the first half. Some changes of Birgit Prinz didn’t reach the nets.

The goal of Ludivine Diguelman came five minutes after the break. The outstanding Elodie Thomis stepped up the pace on the right wing and crossed precisely to Diguelman, who connected with her right foot and beat Wissink. The best German change was for Kerstin Garefrekes who missed the goal on a centimetre with a header. To the frustration of the home fans Montpellier retained control of the match until the final minute.
